The founder of Another Development Foundation, Ingvar Rönnbäck, was happy to host representatives for Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Busia and Migori County, Kenya, i.e. Kenyan Lake Victoria frontiers counties who is collaborating with partners in the County of Västerbotten – Center for Rural Medicine, Region Västerbotten, Umeå Municipality, Biosphere Area – Vindeln River-Juhtáthakka and Umeå University – in a project that started 2023 and will continue until 2025 with funding from Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD).

The Garden Talk was the start of a comprehensive one-week partnership and project program carried out June 11th-16th 2023 focusing on how county government and municipalities can enhance health and resilience in relation to climate change and environment since these are challenges that are interconnected and that demands a multi-sectoral and inter-county response, as well as collaborations with development partners, for example international organisations such WHO, UN-Habitat and research institutions.

The Garden Talk provided a space for talk about many issues of importance, as well an opportunity to introduce the team from Kenya to the concept of Another Development, the historical background to this approach as well as what on what Another Development Foundation is doing.

The talk was very fruitful and we are very grateful for our conversation with the team from the Kenyan Lake Victoria frontiers counties.
