On October 24th, fifteen organizations organized a manifestation in the City of Umeå for Peace, Climate Justice and Human Dignity in relation to the celebration of the ending of World War II.
The manifestation included speeches and musical performances.
The manifestation is an example of the ongoing local mobilization for peace, sustainable development and human rights in Umeå that has become stronger during the last years as a reaction against militarism, militarization, the climate crisis, the environmental crisis, autocratization, discrimination of people and groups.
There is a strong history of civil society engagement in the City of Umeå, and it has become even more visible that this history of engagement is fertile ground for mobilization in relation to current and intertwined international and global crises.
