Another Development Foundation has now, together with partners, carried out Nonviolence 2023 for the fourth time, starting 2020.
This years event focused on strategic analysis in relation to a broad analysis on the state of the world where some challenges and trends got specific attention; militarisation and demilitarisation, autokratisation and democratisation, extractive violence, unsustainable industrialisation and climate justice and sustainable development.
The program contained opportunities for activists, organisations, movements, students and scholars to increase their knowledge, dialogue and interactions in panel discussions, workshops and activities, as well as during breaks, meals and a cultural event with music and story telling by Elena Martinez who speaks for human dignity and the rights of nature.
The program was carried out October 20th-22nd at Ubmeje (Umeå in the sami language).
The organizers of Nonviolence 2023 were Another Development Foundation, Bilda, Swedish Fellowship of Reconcilliation, Women´s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), who organized this event in close collaboration with Deparment of Political Science and Center for Sami Research (Várdduo), Umeå University, Härnösand People´s High School, Studiefrämjandet, Umeå Sami Association (Såhkkie) and Swedish Association for Natural Conservation.
