Another Development Foundation participated at the second World Beyond War Africa Regional Peace Conference. ADF was represented by Ingvar Rönnbäck, Founder and Chair of the Board. Approximately 100 persons attended the event.
This annual free event was aimed at showcasing the opportunities that World BEYOND War (WBW) chapters in Africa have to end wars and contribute to world peace-building efforts.
The first day of the conference focused on the work of the African chapters. It included an overview of the countries’ security contexts, the challenges to achieve a sustainable peace, what activists are doing to contribute to the solution and what World BEYOND War is doing to strengthen their capacities to take action.
On the second day, they analysed the main conflicts in Africa. Moreover, two keynote speakers spoked on the following topics:
– Addressing Western colonialism, racism, militarism and exploitation inflicted on Africa, by Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo, WILPF (Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom) President.
– Establishment and strengthening of Infrastructures of Peace in Africa, by Dr. Oseremen Irene, GAMIP (Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructures for Peace) President.

The purpose of ADF participating at this event was learning, networking and outreach. The overview of the African chapters and the analysis of conflicts and wars in Africa as well as thematic presentations were excellent. ADF will participate in more events organized by World BEYOND War.
