Ellacarin Blind,  living in Ubmeje (Umeå) have worked at  the National  Associationen of the Saami people  (SSR) in Sweden since year  2000. Before that she worked at the Departement of Saami studies at Umeå University where she was teaching in Saami culture. She have also worked as a radiojournalist at the  public Saami radio station  in Giron (Kiruna).

Ellacarin have grown up in a reindeer-hearding family in Arjeplog Municipality in The County of Norrbotten, Sweden. Ellacarin´s main interest areas are gender equality and indigenous rights.

2015 she joined a leadership program for indigenous women  who was organized by FIMI – International Indigenous Women´s Forum.  FIMI’s mission is to bring together indigenous women leaders and human rights activists from different parts of the world to coordinate agendas, capacity-build, and to develop leadership roles. FIMI encourages indigenous women’s participation in international decision-making processes by ensuring the consistent and serious inclusion of indigenous women’s perspectives in all discussions regarding human rights.

Ellacarin is also a certified leader in crisis management at the Red Cross in Sweden.

Ellacarin have a philosohy bachelor degree in Ethnology and Anthropology.
