Another Development Foundation is happy to announce that we have started a collaboration on gender based violence and for freedom from violence with gender- and mediaorganizations in five african countries; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Zambia! The collaboration will be managed by ADEP – Another Development Perspective Ltd and Cooperation Arena for Sustainable Development in Africa (CASDA) with the foundation as the key partner. The project is funded by Swedish Institute, and was launched October 1st-5th when all participants met in Umeå and Stockholm, Sweden.
A special thanks to Yvonne Anyango, Director for CASDA in Kenya for making this possible. Those invited to Sweden for the first phase in this partnership, except Yvonne Anyango, from the african countries were Samba Yonga from Ku-atenga Media in Zambia, Nancy Mundu from Jireh Women and Youth Self-help Association in Busia, Uganda, Peace Hillary Tumeswigire from Family Magazine in Kigali, Rwanda and Clint Ouma from The Binti Project in Moshi, Tanzania. Clint Ouma is also a kenyan citizen.
In the project we also work closely with Kerstin Engström from Umeå University, Uppsala University and Linnéus University (FOJO Media Institute) who has extensive experience in international development cooperation, gender and media studies.
During the week in Umeå and Stockholm in Sweden October 1st-5th 2017 the partners in this project also met representatives for several organisations – The City of Umeå, The County Administrative Board of Västerbotten, Region Västerbotten, The County Council of Västerbotten, Västerbottens Justice Centre, The Womens History Museum in Umeå, The Breakfast Club for Men working for Gender Equality and on masculinity, Unizon and Talita – for the purpose of learning and establishing relations for the future.
The partners have also discussed on how this partnership should evolve and what kind of orientation and outline this partnership will have. More information on this project will come.
