Another Development Foundation is a think tank and meeting point for people and organizations who want to promote peace, freedom from violence, human rights, gender equality and sustainability. In order for this development to happen, withouth neclecting the need for mobilization of civil society locally, nationally and transnationally, questions of leadership, managment and institutional development cannot be avoided. Below, a list of assignments, roles and achievements by our Chair Ingvar Rönnbäck are described. Key achievements have been the creation of his company ADEP Ltd, the build-up of Center for Interdisciplinary Sciences at Umeå University and the development of several international collaborations between local authorities.

Acknowledgment:

Awarded a price as the entrepreneur of the year 2010 at The Umeå Gala in competition with approximately 300 newly established companies, two years after ADEP – Another Development Perspective Ltd was registered.

Ingvar Rönnbäck has been very active in the development of various platforms for scholars and activists, for example:

The Center for Interdisciplinary Sciences at Umeå University, Sweden (1991-2002) – a centre for interdisciplinary research and education on global challenges with specific focus on Peace- and Conflict Studies, Human Ecology and The Baltic Region.

Sida Civil Society Center in Härnösand, Sweden (2002-2005) – a capacity building center for civil society organizations funded Sida.

International projects for Local Authorities in The County of Västerbotten, Sweden (2005-) – Most of these projects are funded by Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) and are aimed at capacity building on the institutional level for the enhancement of local democracy.

Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) North Sweden (2011-2016) – a regional platform for stakeholders in the northern part of Sweden on education for sustainable development (ESD). In this case Ingvar Rönnbäck has been assigned by The City of Umeå, Region Västerbotten and Umeå University as an analyst, advisor and writer for the launch and development of this centre which is connected to a global network of approximately 160 RCEs all working on ESD .
